EPS Indicator Does Not Go Off, And No DTCs Are Stored (Without ACC) (2015-17)
- Problem verification
- 1. Start the engine.
- 2. Check the EPS indicator.
Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO
Go to step 2.
- DTC check
- 1. Test-drive the vehicle at 6 mph (10 km/h) or more.
- 2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame Are there DTCs indicated?
YES
Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Gauge control module operation check
- 1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function.
Does the EPS indicator blink?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
- Body electrical system DTC check
- 1. Check for DTCs in the gauge control module with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Is DTC indicated?
YES
Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 5.
- Fuse check 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. A1-1 (70 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 6.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground on the No. A1-1 (70 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 2
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B10 (7. 5 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 7.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground on the No. B10 (7. 5 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (+B EPS line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
EPS control unit connector A (11P) - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 2 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 8.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.
- Open wire check (IG1 VSA/ABS line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 9 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 VSA/ABS wire is OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.
- Open wire check (GND line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 1 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G402).
- Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines (L4 engine) or F-CAN A_H, F-CAN A_L lines (V6 engine))
- 1. Disconnect the following connectors.
Gauge control module 32P connector - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector (11P) No. 10 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Gauge control module 32P connector No. 27 - Refer to: Gauge Control Module Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without SH-AWD) (2015-17), or Gauge Control Module Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With SH-AWD) (2015-17) Test point 1 EPS control unit connector (11P) No. 11 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Gauge control module 32P connector No. 28 - Refer to: Gauge Control Module Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without SH-AWD) (2015-17), or Gauge Control Module Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With SH-AWD) (2015-17) Is there continuity?
YES
The F-CAN_H and F-CAN_L (L4 engine) or F-CAN A_H and F-CAN A_L (V6 engine) wires are OK. Go to step 11.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and the gauge control module.
- EPS control unit check (update)
- 1. Reconnect the following connectors.
EPS control unit connector A (11P) Gauge control module 32P connector - 2. Update the EPS control unit if it does not have the latest software.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 4. Start the engine.
- 5. Check the EPS indicator.
Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?
YES
Troubleshooting is complete.
NO
