ABS Indicator, Brake System Indicator (Red), VSA Indicator, And Brake System Indicator (Amber) Do Not Go Off (With Auto Idle Stop System, Without ACC) (2015-17)
Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the VSA modulator-control unit. If it does not, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting - Refer to: DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (L4) (2015-17), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (V6, Without CAN gateway) (2015-17), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (V6, Without SH-AWD, With CAN gateway) (2015-17), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (V6, With SH-AWD and CAN gateway) (2015-17) .
- DTC check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame Are there DTCs indicated?
YES
Do the DTC troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 2.
- PGM-FI system DTC's check
- 1. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame P0A94 VOLTAGE STABILIZER MALFUNCTION Is DTC P0A94 indicated?
YES
Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Gauge control module operation check
- 1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function.
Is the gauge control module OK?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
- Fuse check 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. GA (7.5 A) Location Under-dash sub fuse/relay box B Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. GA (7.5 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 2
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B13 (15 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 6.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. B13 (15 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 3
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. A1-4 (20 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 7.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. A1-4 (20 A) fuse circuit.
- DC-DC converter IG1 relay check
- 1. Remove the DC-DC converter IG1 relay, and test it.
Is the relay OK?
YES
The relay is OK. Reinstall the relay, then go to step 8.
NO
Replace the DC-DC converter IG1 relay.
- Open wire check (IG1 VSA (DC) line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 36 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 VSA (DC) wire is OK. Go to step 13.
NO
Go to step 9.
- Open wire check (IG1 VSA (DC) line, IG1 RELAY1 line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the DC-DC converter IG1 relay.
- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected DC-DC converter IG1 relay: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 36 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 4P socket No. 1 Is there continuity?
YES
The IG1 VSA (DC) wire and IG1 RELAY1 wire are OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and the DC-DC converter IG1 relay.
- Open wire check (+B DC1 OUT2 line
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
DC-DC converter connector B (5P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected DC-DC converter IG1 relay: disconnected DC-DC converter connector B (5P): disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 4P socket No. 2 Test point 2 DC-DC converter connector B (5P) No. 5 Is there continuity?
YES
The +B DC1 OUT2 wire is OK. Go to step 11.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the DC-DC converter and the DC-DC converter IG1 relay.
- Open wire check (IG1 ACG line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected DC-DC converter IG1 relay: disconnected DC-DC converter connector B (5P): disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 4P socket No. 3 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 ACG wire is OK. Go to step 12.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the DC-DC converter IG1 relay.
- Open wire check (DC RLY GND line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected DC-DC converter IG1 relay: disconnected DC-DC converter connector B (5P): disconnected Test point 1 DC-DC converter IG1 relay 4P socket No. 4 Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The DC RLY GND wire is OK. Replace the DC-DC converter .
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the DC-DC converter IG1 relay and body ground (G306).
- Open wire check (+B ABS/VSA FSR line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 4 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B ABS/VSA FSR wire is OK. Go to step 14.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the No. A1-4 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Open wire check (GND line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 3 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 15.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and body ground (G206).
- Open wire check or (F-CAN A_L, F-CAN A_H lines)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module 32P connector - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

YES
F-CAN A_L and F-CAN A_H wires are OK. Go to step 16.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- VSA modulator-control unit check (update)
- 1. Reconnect the following connectors.
Gauge control module 32P connector VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then the ON mode.
- 4. Check the ABS indicator, brake system indicator (red), VSA indicator, and brake system indicator (amber) for several seconds when you turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
Do the indicators come on then go off?
YES
Troubleshooting is complete.
NO
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (Without SH-AWD) .
