ABS Indicator, Brake System Indicator (Red), VSA Indicator, And Brake System Indicator (Amber) Do Not Go Off (With ACC) (2015-17)
Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the VSA modulator-control unit. If it does not, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting - Refer to: DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (L4) (2015-17), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (V6, Without CAN gateway) (2015-17), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (V6, Without SH-AWD, With CAN gateway) (2015-17), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (V6, With SH-AWD and CAN gateway) (2015-17) .
- DTC check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame Are there DTCs indicated?
YES
Do the DTC troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 2.
- CAN gateway system DTC check
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC U0029-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch A Bus Off U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off U3000-49 CAN Gateway Internal Failure Is DTC U0029-00, U0047-00, and/or U3000-49 indicated?
YES
Go to indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Fuse check 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B10 (7.5 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 4.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. B10 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 2
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. A1-4 (20 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. A1-4 (20 A) fuse circuit.
- Gauge control module operation check
- 1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function.
Is the gauge control module OK?
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
- Open wire check (IG1 VSA/ABS line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 36 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 VSA/ABS wire is OK. Go to step 7.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the No. B10 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Open wire check (GND line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 3 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (With Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2015-17) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 8.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and body ground (G206).
- Open wire check (+B ABS/VSA FSR line)
- 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

YES
The +B ABS/VSA FSR wire is OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the No. A1-4 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- F-CAN circuit communication check
- 1. Reconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Select the FUNCTION TEST in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

Gauge control module (Bus A) is Not Available
Go to step 10.
VSA modulator-control unit (Bus A) is Not Available
Go to step 11.
VSA modulator-control unit (Bus B) is Not Available
Go to step 12.
VSA modulator-control unit and gauge control module are Detected
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting .
- Open wire check (F-CAN A_L, F-CAN A_H lines)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 24P connector Gauge control module 32P connector - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Check for loose terminals in the CAN gateway 24P connector and the gauge control module 32P connector. If they are OK, substitute a known-good gauge control module , then retest. If the indicators come on then go off after substitution, replace the original gauge control module .

Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the CAN gateway.
- Open wire check (F-CAN A_L, F-CAN A_H lines)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 24P connector VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 24P connector VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and the CAN gateway.
- VSA modulator-control unit check (update)
- 1. Reconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 24P connector VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then the ON mode.
- 4. Check the ABS indicator, brake system indicator (red), VSA indicator, and brake system indicator (amber) for several seconds when you turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
Do the indicators come on then go off?
YES
Troubleshooting is complete.
NO
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (Without SH-AWD) .
