DTC U0047-00: CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off (V6, Without SH-AWD, With CAN gateway) (2015-17)

DTC (CAN gateway)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   DTC Description	DTC
   U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

2. Shorted unit check (PCM)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

   - 3. Disconnect the following connector.

   PCM connector A (51P)

   - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD), or PCM Removal and Installation (Without SH-AWD) , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD), or PCM Removal and Installation (Without SH-AWD) .

3. Shorted unit check (engine mount control unit)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   Engine mount control unit 16P connector

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Substitute a known-good engine mount control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the engine mount control unit was substituted, replace the original engine mount control unit .

4. Shorted unit check (TCM)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

   - 3. Disconnect the following connector.

   TCM 58P connector

   - 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 5.

   NO 

   Update the TCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good TCM , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the TCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the TCM was substituted, replace the original TCM .

5. Shorted unit check (SBW shifter control module)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   SBW shifter control module 20P connector

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 6.

   NO 

   Substitute a known-good SBW shifter control module , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the SBW shifter control module was substituted, replace the original SBW shifter control module .

6. Shorted unit check (keyless access/TPMS control unit)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   Keyless access/TPMS control unit connector C (20P)

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   DTC Description	DTC
   U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES (with navigation)

   Go to step 7.

   YES (without navigation)

   Go to step 8.

   NO 

   Substitute a known-good keyless access/TPMS control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the keyless access/TPMS control unit was substituted, replace the original keyless access/TPMS control unit .

7. Shorted unit check (audio-navigation unit)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P)

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 8.

   NO 

   Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the audio-navigation unit was substituted, replace the original audio-navigation unit .

8. Shorted unit check (ANC/active sound control unit)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 9.

   NO 

   Substitute a known-good ANC/active sound control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the ANC/active sound control unit was substituted, replace the original ANC/active sound control unit .

9. Shorted unit check (VSA modulator-control unit)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector

   - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

   - 7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

   YES 

   Go to step 10.

   NO 

   Update the VSA modulator-control unit - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update (With SH-AWD), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update if it does not have the latest software, then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 is indicated after the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, replace the VSA modulator-control unit - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD), or VSA Modulator-Control Unit Removal and Installation .

10. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    CAN gateway 24P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    	PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
    	Engine mount control unit 16P connector: disconnected
    	TCM 58P connector: disconnected
    	SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    	Keyless access/TPMS control unit connector C (20P): disconnected
    	Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) (with navigation): disconnected
    	ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    	VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
    	CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1	CAN gateway 24P connector No. 11
    Test point 2	Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    The F-CAN B_H wire is not short to ground. Go to step 11.

11. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    	PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
    	Engine mount control unit 16P connector: disconnected
    	TCM 58P connector: disconnected
    	SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    	Keyless access/TPMS control unit connector C (20P): disconnected
    	Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) (with navigation): disconnected
    	ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    	VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
    	CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1	CAN gateway 24P connector No. 10
    Test point 2	Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_L wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    The F-CAN B_L wire is not short to ground. Go to step 12.

12. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line to F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    	PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
    	Engine mount control unit 16P connector: disconnected
    	TCM 58P connector: disconnected
    	SBW shifter control module 20P connector: disconnected
    	Keyless access/TPMS control unit connector C (20P): disconnected
    	Audio-navigation unit connector F (18P) (with navigation): disconnected
    	ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    	VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
    	CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1	CAN gateway 24P connector No. 10
    Test point 2	CAN gateway 24P connector No. 11

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire to the F-CAN B_L wire between CAN gateway terminals No. 10 and No. 11.

    NO 

    Update the CAN gateway if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good CAN gateway , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the CAN gateway was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the CAN gateway was substituted, replace the original CAN gateway .
