Power Rear Window Sunshade Control Unit Input Test (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020)

NOTE: 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect the power rear window sunshade control unit/motor 5P connector

3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
1 YEL Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C29 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty power rear window sunshade relay
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
3 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G706)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
2 TAN Vehicle ON mode, front power rear window sunshade switch ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502) or an open in the ground wire
  • Faulty front power rear window sunshade switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, front power rear window sunshade switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground: There should be at least 5 V.
  • Faulty front power rear window sunshade switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, rear power rear window sunshade switch ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G503) or an open in the ground wire
  • Faulty rear power rear window sunshade switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, rear power rear window sunshade switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground: There should be at least 5 V.
  • Faulty rear power rear window sunshade switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
