DTC B0050-13 : Open or Increased Resistance in the Driver's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number and were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection .

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
-1. Apply the parking brake.
-2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the driver's seat belt several times.
-4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0050-13 Open or increased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch Is DTC B0050-13 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Driver's seat belt buckle switch check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the floor wire harness or the driver's seat wire harness.
-3. Without ventilated seat: Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1 (on the floor wire harness): Terminal B Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2 (on the floor wire harness): -4. With ventilated seat: Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1 (on the driver's seat wire harness): Terminal B Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2 (on the driver's seat wire harness): -5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0050-11 Short or decreased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch Is DTC B0050-11 indicated?
YES
Open in the driver's seat belt buckle switch; replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly , then clear the DTC.
NO (with ventilated seat)
Go to step 5.
NO (without ventilated seat)
Go to step 3.
- Open wire check (FLBC line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the jumper wire from the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector on the floor wire harness.
-4. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector B (57P) -5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1 (on the floor wire harness): Test point 2 SRS unit connector B (57P) No. 37 Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The FLBC wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Open or increased resistance in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2 (on the floor wire harness): Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (57P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness.
NO
Open or increased resistance in the floor wire harness; check for a poor ground at G601. If the ground is OK, replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (FLBC line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the jumper wire from the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector on the driver's seat wire harness.
-4. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector B (57P) -5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the driver's seat wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2 (on the driver's seat wire harness): Test point 2 SRS unit connector B (57P) No. 37 Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The FLBC wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Open or increased resistance in the floor wire harness or the driver's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the driver's seat wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1 (on the driver's seat wire harness): Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (57P) and the SRS unit.
