DTC B0013-13

DTC B0013-13  : Open or Increased Resistance in the Front Passenger's Knee Airbag Inflator

DTC Description DTC
B0013-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's knee airbag inflator  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Apply the parking brake.

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B0013-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's knee airbag inflator  

    Is DTC B0013-13 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Front passenger's knee airbag inflator check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the glove box .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    Front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector (on the dashboard wire harness)

    -5. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1 (on the dashboard wire harness):
    Terminal B Front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2 (on the dashboard wire harness):

    -6. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.

    -7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -8. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B0013-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's knee airbag inflator  

    Is DTC B0013-13 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Faulty front passenger's knee airbag inflator; replace the front passenger's knee airbag , then clear the DTC.

  3. Open wire check (RKA+, RKA- lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the jumper wire from the front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector on the dashboard wire harness.

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector A (43P)

    -5. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A SRS unit connector A (43P) No. 13
    Terminal B SRS unit connector A (43P) No. 12

    -6. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected
    SRS unit connector A (43P): disconnected
    SRS unit connector A (43P) terminals No. 13 and No. 12: jumped
    Test point 1 Front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1 (on the dashboard wire harness):
    Test point 2 Front passenger's knee airbag inflator 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2 (on the dashboard wire harness):

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The RKA+ and RKA- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (43P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.

    NO 

    Open or increased resistance in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
