Gauges - Control/Function (2013 2014 2015)

Speed Meter and Tachometer

The PCM provides a vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module displays the current speed in the speed meter.

Fuel Gauge and Fuel Indicator

The gauge control module displays the fuel gauge based on input value from the fuel gauge sending unit. The low fuel indicator lights in the event that indication of the fuel gauge becomes lower than the minimum tank fill threshold.

Temperature Gauge

The gauge control module displays the temperature gauge based on input value from the PCM.

ODO Meter and Trip Meter

The PCM provides a vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Based on this input, the gauge control module tracks mileage for the odometer and trip meters.

Outside Air Temperature

The gauge control module for the vehicle with climate control receives outside air temperature signal from the climate control unit via B-CAN.

Calculates Instant/Average Fuel Economy/Range

The gauge control module receives signals such as fuel consumption, driving distance, vehicle speed and engine speed from the PCM via F-CAN communication. It calculates instant/average fuel economy, range to display the results.

Select Position

The PCM provides transmission selector position to the gauge control module using the F-CAN. Base on this data, the gauge control module illuminates the appropriate A/T gear position indicator light.

Gauge Control Module Receives Information

The gauge control module receives information from each control unit via F-CAN and B-CAN communication to light or flash the indicators. The parking brake switch and brake fluid level switch connect directly to the gauge control module. The MICU creates turn signal inputs that connect directly to the turn signal indicators in the gauge control module.

Keyless Access System

The gauge control module receives information from the keyless access control unit via B-CAN communication to display status of the keyless access system.

Buzzer

The gauge control module includes a buzzer to provide the driver with audible warnings. Possible alarms are listed below.

Illumination Control

With the exterior lights are off, the system is in the lights off state. Brightness can be adjusted using the dash lights brightness controls.
