Front Brake Caliper (2013 2014 2015): Installation
NOTICE:
Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle; it may damage the paint. If brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.
- Caliper Pin and Pin Boot - Install
1. Apply a thin coat of Honda caliper grease (P/N 08C30- B0224M) to the caliper pins (A) and the new pin boots (B). 2. Install the caliper pins and the new pin boots.
NOTE:
- Make sure that the caliper pins are installed correctly. The upper caliper pin and the lower caliper pin are different. If these caliper pins are installed in the wrong location, it will cause vibration, uneven or rapid brake pad wear, and possibly uneven tire wear.
- Make sure that the pin boots are properly positioned into the grooves (C) of the caliper pin and the grooves (D) of the caliper body.
- Remove air from within the pin boots.
- Brake Pad - Install
1. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste (P/N 08798-9010) to the pad side of the shims (A), the back of the brake pads (B), and the other areas indicated by the arrows. 2. Wipe off the excess assembly paste from the pad shims and brake pads friction material. Keep grease and assembly paste away from the brake disc and brake pads. Contaminated brake disc or brake pads reduce stopping ability.
3. Install the brake pads and pad shims correctly. Install the brake pad with the wear indicator (C) on the upper inside position.
NOTE: If you are reusing the brake pads, always reinstall the brake pads in their original positions to prevent a temporary loss of braking efficiency.
4. Install the pad return springs (A). - Brake Caliper Body - Install
1. Install the caliper body (A). 2. Connect the brake hose (B) to the caliper body with the banjo bolt (C) and new sealing washers (D).
- Brake System - Bleed
1. Bleed the brake system . - Brake Hose and Line - Check
NOTE:
- Check for leaks at hose and line joints or connections, and retighten if necessary.
- Check the brake hoses for interference and twisting.
- Front Wheels - Install
1. Install the front wheel .
