Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed(Without Navigation) (2016 2017 2018)

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed 

NOTE: 

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -2. Turn on the audio system, and select the XM radio.

    Does the XM radio station information display blankΩ

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the XM radio sound is not heard, go to Poor or no sound with XM radio (Audio unit does display XM channels) troubleshooting .

  2. System Diagnostic Mode check

    -1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the Display icon status .

    Is the Display icon green?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to Center display does not dim or brighten with dimmer troubleshooting .

  3. Determine possible failure area (GA+B line, others)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Tuner unit connector A (20P)

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Tuner unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA+B
    Test point 1 Tuner unit connector A (20P) No. 16 (BLU)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The GA+B wire is OK. Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (GA+B line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Tuner unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA+B
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector D (12P) No. 12 (BLU)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the tuner unit.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .

  5. Determine possible failure area (GA GND line, others)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Tuner unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA GND
    Test point 1 Tuner unit connector A (20P) No. 6 (BRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The GA GND wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Open wire check (GA GND line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Tuner unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA GND
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector D (12P) No. 6 (BRN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the tuner unit.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .

  7. Determine possible failure area (GA SYS ON line, others)

    -1. Reconnect tuner unit connector A (12P).

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    HandsFreeLink control unit connector A (32P)

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      HandsFreeLink control unit connector A (32P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA SYS ON
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector D (12P) No. 8 (TAN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there about 3.0 V?

    YES 

    The GA SYS ON wire is OK. Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Go to step 8.

  8. Open wire check (GA SYS ON line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      HandsFreeLink control unit connector A (32P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA SYS ON
    Test point 1 Tuner unit connector A (20P) No. 12 (TAN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there about 3.0 V?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the tuner unit.

    NO 

    Replace the tuner unit .

  9. Audio unit check

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
      HandsFreeLink control unit connector A (32P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA SYS ON
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector D (12P) No. 8 (TAN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there less than 0.2 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .

  10. Open wire check (GA BUS+ line, GA BUS- line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio unit connector D (12P)
    Tuner unit connector A (20P)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      HandsFreeLink control unit connector A (32P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector D (12P): disconnected
      Tuner unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test circuit GA BUS+
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector D (12P) No. 7 (BLU)
    Test point 2 Tuner unit connector A (20P) No. 12 (BLU)
    Test circuit GA BUS
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector D (12P) No. 1 (PNK)
    Test point 2 Tuner unit connector A (20P) No. 1 (PNK)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The GA BUS+ and the GA BUS wires are OK. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the tuner unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  11. Tuner unit check (substitution)

    -1. Substitute a known-good tuner unit.

    -2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original tuner unit.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .
