DTC (Gauge Control Module)
If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A - Refer to:

- Problem verification
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
- 3. Wait for at least 4 seconds.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B1192 Gauge control module lost communication with battery sensor ECU (LIN BUS connected) B1193 Gauge control module lost communication with steering switch (LIN BUS connected) Is DTC B1193 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Fuse check
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. C16 (10 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. No. C16 (10 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (+B BACK UP line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest circuit +B BACK UP Test point 1 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector No. 16 (GRN)
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector No. 16 (GRN)Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B BACK UP wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- Open wire check (SGND line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest circuit SGND Test point 1 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector No. 1 (BLK)
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector No. 1 (BLK)Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The SGND wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G507).
- Open wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest circuit LIN (METER) Test point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 24 (ORN) Test point 2 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector No. 14 (BLU)
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector No. 14 (BLU)Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch (with navigation) or the audio remote-HFL switch (without navigation) - Refer to: ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal and Installation (2014 2015 2016) .
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (METER) wire between the gauge control module and the steering commander switch assembly.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector
Gauge control module connector A (32P)
Battery sensor 2P connector - Refer to:
12 Volt Battery Sensor Removal and Installation (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020), or 12 Volt Battery Sensor Removal and Installation (2014 2015)- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Battery sensor 2P connector: disconnectedTest circuit LIN (METER) Test point 1 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector No. 14 (BLU)
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector No. 14 (BLU)Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the LIN (METER) wire between the gauge control module and the steering commander switch assembly.
NO
The LIN (METER) wire is not shorted. Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Battery sensor 2P connector: disconnectedTest circuit LIN (METER) Test point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 24 (ORN) Test point 2 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector No. 14 (BLU)
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector No. 14 (BLU)Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the gauge control module .
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (METER) wire between the gauge control module and the steering commander switch assembly.
