No sound is heard from all the speakers (display is normal)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first .
- Set the fader and the balance positions to the center.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Problem verification
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the speaker check mode .
Did all speakers produce a tone?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose connections at the audio-navigation unit and speakers. If the tone is weak or distorted, go to Audio system sound is weak or distorted (display is normal) troubleshooting .
NO
The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
- Stereo amplifier connection check
-1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the AMP icon status .
Is the AMP icon green?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Stereo amplifier check (substitution)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier , and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES
Replace the original stereo amplifier.
NO
- Fuse check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B37 (30 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. B37 (30 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (+B PREMIUM AMP line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected Test circuit +B PREMIUM AMP Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 3 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B PREMIUM AMP wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the No. B37 (30 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the stereo amplifier.
- Determine possible failure area (SWD+B line, others)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected Test circuit SWD+B Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 13 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The SWD+B wire is OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (SWD+B line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

YES
Repair an open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio-navigation unit.
NO
The SWD+B wire is not open. Go to step 8.
- Shorted wire check (SWD+B line)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
NOTE: Eject the disc before disconnecting the audio-navigation unit to prevent damaging the CD/DVD player's load mechanism.
Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P): disconnected ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected Test circuit SWD+B Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 21 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio-navigation unit.
NO
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Reconnect stereo amplifier connector A (18P)
-3. Reconnect stereo amplifier connector B (28P)
-4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode Test circuit GND Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 1 (BLK) Test point 2 Body ground Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the stereo amplifier and body ground (G504).
- Shorted wire check (RS485+ line, RS485- line)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Audio-navigation unit connector C (20P) Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Audio-navigation unit connector C (20P): disconnected Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected Test circuit RS485+ Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (20P) No. 5 (PNK) Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit RS485- Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (20P) No. 4 (BLU) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO
The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 11.
- Shorted wire check (RS485+ line to RS485- line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO
The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are not shorted. Go to step 12.
- Shorted wire check (RS485 SH line to another lines)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

NO
The RS485 SH wire is OK. Go to step 13.
- Open wire check (RS485+ line, RS485- line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

YES
The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are OK. Go to step 14.
NO
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.
- Stereo amplifier check (substitution)
-1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier .
-2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES
Replace the original stereo amplifier.
NO
