Audio System - CarPlay and Android Auto unit does not work(With Navigation) (2019 2020 2021 2022)

CarPlay and Android Auto unit does not work 

NOTE: 

  1. System Diagnostic Mode check 1

    -1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the Carplay Box icon status .

    Is the Carplay Box icon green?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. System Diagnostic Mode check 2

    -1. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Carplay Box to check the CP/AA Connection status .

    Is the CP/AA Connection OK?

    YES 

    The HDMI circuit is faulty. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. System Diagnostic Mode check 2

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Connect a known-good USB device to the USB port.

    -3. With the USB device connecting, go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the USB icon status .

    Is the USB icon green?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Go to Navigation DTC 2710 (USB Cable Diag) troubleshooting .

  4. Open wire check (+B AUDIO(ODMD) line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P)

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 10
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The +B AUDIO(ODMD) wire is OK. Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire.

  5. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 9
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire or poor ground (G504).

  6. Open wire check (SWD+B line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 8
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The SWD+B wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire.

  7. Open wire check (CP/AA USB lines)

    -1. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P)
    CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector D (5P)

    -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector D (5P): disconnected
    Test point 1:Audio-navigation unit connector K (5P) Test point 1:CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector D (5P)
    No. 1 No. 1
    No. 3 No. 3
    No. 4 No. 4

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Replace the CarPlay and Android Auto unit .

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  8. Shorted wire check (CP/AA SIRI RG lines) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)
    CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 13
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 14
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The CP/AA SIRI RG+ and CP/AA SIRI RG- wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 9.

  9. Shorted wire check (CP/AA SIRI RG lines) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    Test point 2: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    No. 5 No. 13, No. 14
    No. 13 No. 14

    Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The CP/AA SIRI RG wires are not shorted. Go to step 10.

  10. Open wire check (CP/AA SIRI RG+, CP/AA SIRI RG- lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 13
    Test point 2 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 14
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 14
    Test point 2 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 13

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The CP/AA SIRI RG+ and CP/AA SIRI RG- wires are OK. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  11. Shorted wire check (CP/AA MIC lines) 1

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 3
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 12
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The CP/AA MIC and CP/AA MIC GND wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 12.

  12. Shorted wire check (CP/AA MIC lines) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    Test point 2: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    No. 4 No. 3, No. 12
    No. 3 No. 12

    Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The CP/AA MIC wires are not shorted. Go to step 13.

  13. Open wire check (CP/AA MIC, CP/AA MIC GND lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 3
    Test point 2 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 5
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 12
    Test point 2 CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P) No. 15

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The CP/AA MIC and CP/AA MIC GND wires are OK. Go to step 14.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  14. Shorted wire check (CP/AA MAIN lines) 1

    -1. Check for continuity between the following test points and body ground individually.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Connector  Terminal 
    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 7
    No. 8
    No. 15
    No. 16

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The CP/AA MAIN wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 15.

  15. Shorted wire check (CP/AA MAIN lines) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    Test point 2: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    No. 6 No. 7, No. 8, No. 15, No. 16
    No. 7 No. 8, No. 15, No. 16
    No. 8 No. 15, No. 16
    No. 15 No. 16

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The CP/AA MAIN wires are not shorted. Go to step 16.

  16. Open wire check (CP/AA MAIN lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected
      CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P): disconnected
    Test point 1: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    Test point 2: 

    CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P)

    No. 7 No. 11
    No. 8 No. 1
    Test point 1: 

    Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P)

    Test point 2: 

    CarPlay and Android Auto unit connector A (20P)

    No. 15 No. 2
    No. 16 No. 12

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The CP/AA MAIN wires are OK. Go to step 17.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  17. CarPlay and Android Auto unit check

    -1. Substitute a known-good CarPlay and Android Auto unit .

    -2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original CarPlay and Android Auto unit.

    NO 

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .
