DTC B2860-13

DTC B2860-13  : Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power or Signal Circuit Open

NOTE:

B2860-13 Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power or Signal Circuit Open  

DTC (E-pretensioner)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B2860-13 Front Passenger's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power or Signal Circuit Open  

    Is DTC B2860-13 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

  2. Spool sensor input voltage check

    -1. Check the parameter (s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Front Passenger's Spool Sensor A Input Voltage    
    Front Passenger's Spool Sensor B Input Voltage    

    Are spool sensors A and B indicated 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO (Only spool sensor A is indicated)

    Go to step 5.

    NO (Only spool sensor B is indicated)

    Go to step 7.

  3. Open wire check (E-PT MTR R VC line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR R VC
    Test point 1 Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 3 (PNK)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (E-PT MTR R VC line) 2

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P).

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR R VC
    Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) No. 8 (PNK)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The E-PT MTR R VC wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

  5. Open wire check (E-PT MTR R GA line) 1

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector.

    Test point 1 Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 2 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    When slowly pulling out the seat belt, does the voltage change from 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .

  6. Open wire check (E-PT MTR R GA line) 2

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P)
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P): disconnected
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR R GA
    Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) No. 12 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 2 (GRY)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The E-PT MTR R GA wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

  7. Open wire check (E-PT MTR R GB line) 1

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector.

    Test circuit E-PT MTR R GB
    Test point 1 Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 1 (PUR)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    When slowly pulling out the seat belt, does the voltage change from 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Faulty front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the front passenger's seat belt .

  8. Open wire check (E-PT MTR R GB line) 2

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P)
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P): disconnected
    Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit E-PT MTR R GB
    Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) No. 6 (PUR)
    Test point 2 Front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 1 (PUR)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The E-PT MTR R GB wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the front passenger's E-pretensioner spool sensor.
