DTC U0047-00 (CAN Gateway) (2014 2015)

DTC U0047-00  : CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC Description DTC
U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

DTC (CAN gateway)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

  2. Shorted unit check (PCM)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCM connector A (51P)

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM .

  3. Shorted unit check (keyless access control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Keyless access control unit connector C (24P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES (with ACC)

    Go to step 4.

    YES (without ACC)

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Substitute a known-good keyless access control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the keyless access control unit was substituted, replace the original keyless access control unit .

  4. Shorted unit check (ACC unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    ACC unit 20P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Update the ACC unit if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ACC unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the ACC unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the ACC unit was substituted, replace the original ACC unit .

  5. Shorted unit check (electric parking brake control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Electric parking brake control unit 30P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Update the electric parking brake control unit if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good electric parking brake control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the electric parking brake control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the electric parking brake control unit was substituted, replace the original electric parking brake control unit .

  6. Shorted unit check (ANC/active sound control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    U0047-00 CAN Gateway F-CAN ch B Bus Off  

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Substitute a known-good ANC/active sound control unit , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the ANC/active sound control unit was substituted, replace the original ANC/active sound control unit .

  7. Shorted unit check (VSA modulator-control unit)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 6 seconds.

    -7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC U0047-00 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software, then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the VSA modulator-control unit was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 was indicated after the VSA modulator-control unit updated, replace the original VSA modulator-control unit .

  8. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    CAN gateway 24P connector

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
      Keyless access control unit connector C (24P): disconnected
      ACC unit 20P connector (with ACC): disconnected
      Electric parking brake control unit 30P connector: disconnected
      ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
      CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit F-CAN B_H
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 11 (LT BLU)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    The F-CAN B_H wire is not short to ground. Go to step 9.

  9. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
      Keyless access control unit connector C (24P): disconnected
      ACC unit 20P connector (with ACC): disconnected
      Electric parking brake control unit 30P connector: disconnected
      ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
      CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit F-CAN B_L
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 10 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_L wire between the CAN gateway and the connected units.

    NO 

    The F-CAN B_L wire is not short to ground. Go to step 10.

  10. Shorted wire check (F-CAN B_H line to F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCM connector A (51P): disconnected
      Keyless access control unit connector C (24P): disconnected
      ACC unit 20P connector (with ACC): disconnected
      Electric parking brake control unit 30P connector: disconnected
      ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
      VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected
      CAN gateway 24P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit F-CAN B_H, F-CAN B_L
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 11 (LT BLU)
    Test point 2 CAN gateway 24P connector No. 10 (GRY)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the F-CAN B_H wire to the F-CAN B_L wire between CAN gateway terminals No. 10 and No. 11.

    NO 

    Update the CAN gateway if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good CAN gateway , then recheck. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the CAN gateway was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If DTC U0047-00 goes away and the CAN gateway was substituted, replace the original CAN gateway .
