Audio System - No sound is heard from all the speakers (display is normal) (Without Navigation with Touch Screen) (2016 2017 2018)

No sound is heard from all the speakers (display is normal) 

NOTE: 

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the speaker check mode .

    Did all speakers produce a tone?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose connections at the audio unit and speakers. If the tone is weak or distorted, go to Audio system sound is weak or distorted (display is normal) troubleshooting .

    NO 

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

  2. Fuse check

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. B37 (30 A)
    Location Under-dash fuse/relay box

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. B37 (30 A) fuse circuit.

  3. Open wire check (+B PREMIUM AMP line)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Stereo amplifier connector A (18P)

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
    Test circuit +B PREMIUM AMP
    Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 3 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The +B PREMIUM AMP wire is OK. Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the No. B37 (30 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the stereo amplifier.

  4. Determine possible failure area (SWD+B line, others)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Stereo amplifier connector B (28P)

    -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
    Test circuit SWD+B
    Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 13 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The SWD+B wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Go to step 5.

  5. Open wire check (SWD+B line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
    Test circuit SWD+B
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 21 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio unit.

    NO 

    The SWD+B wire is not open. Go to step 6.

  6. Shorted wire check (SWD+B line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    NOTE:  Eject the disc before disconnecting the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD player's load mechanism.

    Audio unit connector A (24P)
    ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
      Audio unit connector A (24P): disconnected
      ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit SWD+B
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector A (24P) No. 21 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio unit.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .

  7. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Reconnect stereo amplifier connector A (18P)

    -3. Reconnect stereo amplifier connector B (28P)

    -4. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
    Test circuit GND
    Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 1 (BLK)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there less than 0.2 V?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the stereo amplifier and body ground (G504).

  8. Shorted wire check (RS485+ line, RS485- line)

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio unit connector C (20P)
    Stereo amplifier connector B (28P)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio unit connector C (20P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
    Test circuit RS485+
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 5 (PNK)
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit RS485- 
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 4 (BLU)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The RS485+ and the RS485-  wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 9.

  9. Shorted wire check (RS485+ line to RS485- line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio unit connector C (20P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
    Test circuit RS485+, RS485- 
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 5 (PNK)
    Test point 2 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 4 (BLU)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The RS485+ and the RS485-  wires are not shorted. Go to step 10.

  10. Shorted wire check (RS485 SH line to another lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio unit connector C (20P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
    Test circuit RS485 SH, RS485+
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 15 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 5 (PNK)
    Test circuit RS485 SH, RS485- 
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 15 (GRY)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO 

    The RS485 SH wire is OK. Go to step 11.

  11. Open wire check (RS485+ line, RS485- line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition OFF mode
      Audio unit connector C (20P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected
    Test circuit RS485+
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 5 (PNK)
    Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 28 (PNK)
    Test circuit RS485- 
    Test point 1 Audio unit connector C (20P) No. 4 (BLU)
    Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 14 (BLU)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The RS485+ and the RS485-  wires are OK. Go to step 12.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  12. Stereo amplifier check (substitution)

    -1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier .

    -2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original stereo amplifier.

    NO 

    Replace the audio unit .
