SRS Indicator Stays On, But No DTCs Are Stored, Or Cannot Be Read (2018-19)
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number and were properly installed - Refer to: SRS Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment (2018-19) .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, make sure the Battery is fully charged - Refer to: 12 Volt Battery Test (Without SH-AWD), or 12 Volt Battery Test (With SH-AWD) . If the Battery voltage is low, SRS indicator may stay on.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the SRS (2018-19) , and 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection. .
- SRS unit with a history that has detected the collision, turns on the SRS indicator. The internal components of the SRS unit are damaged and must be replaced.
- Problem verification
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then goes off?
YES
The vehicle is OK at this time.
NO
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
- DTC check
- 1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Are any SRS DTCs indicated?
YES
Go to SRS DTC troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Body electrical system DTC check
- 1. Check for body electrical DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC U0151 Gauge control module lost communication with SRS unit Is DTC U0151 indicated?
YES
Go to DTC U0151 troubleshooting - Refer to: SRS DTC Troubleshooting Index (2018-19) .
NO
Go to step 4.
- Fuse check 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuses.
Fuse No. B24 (10 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuses OK?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuses, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the under-dash fuse/relay box No. B24 (10 A) fuses circuit (dashboard wire harness, right side wire harness, or front passenger's seat wire harness); replace the faulty harness, and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box .
- Open wire check (VB lines)
- 1. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) - 3. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 39 - Refer to: SRS Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2018-19) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The VB wires are OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Open in the dashboard wire harness or faulty under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the dashboard wire harness or the under-dash fuse/relay box .
- Open wire check (GND lines)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 36 - Refer to: SRS Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2018-19) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wires are OK. Replace the SRS unit - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation (2018-19) .
NO
Open in the dashboard wire harness; check for a poor ground at G308. If the ground is OK, replace the dashboard wire harness.
