Reminder Systems (MICU And Gauge Control Module) Input Test

NOTE:

MICU 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors A, D, E, N, P, and S .

NOTE:

All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.

3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. Reconnect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
E23 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be battery voltage.

  • Blown No. A29 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A1 BRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be battery voltage.

  • Blown No. A2-5 (30 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty under-dash subrelay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
D3 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G403)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D30 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G404)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
E6 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G202)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
E7 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G202)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P1 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G307)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D22 BRN Driver's door open Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • Faulty driver's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Driver's door closed Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
S13 LT GRN Front passenger's door open Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty front passenger's door switch
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Front passenger's door closed Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty front passenger's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
D23 LT GRN Left rear door open Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty left rear door switch
  • Faulty left rear door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Left rear door closed Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty left rear door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
S14 BRN Right rear door open Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty right rear door switch
  • Faulty right rear door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Right rear door closed Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty right rear door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
D37 WHT Trunk lid open Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty trunk lid latch switch
  • Poor ground (G403) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Trunk lid closed Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty trunk lid latch switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P22 PNK Disconnect keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) Check for continuity between terminal P22 and keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) terminal No. 2:

There should be continuity.

An open or high resistance in the wire
N18

Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N18 and N1:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch in any position other than OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N18 and N1:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
N20

Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals N20 and N1:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N20 and N1:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
N19

Combination light switch (headlight) ON Measure the voltage between terminals N19 and N1:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals N19 and N1:

There should be about 5 V.

  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Gauge Control Module 

5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

6. Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector .

7. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

8. With the connector still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
12 LT GRN Disconnect the electric parking brake control unit 30P connector Check for continuity between terminal No. 12 and electric parking brake control unit 30P connector terminal No. 17:

There should be continuity.

An open or high resistance in the wire

9. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
1 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be battery voltage.

  • Blown No. A29 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
2 BRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be battery voltage.

  • Blown No. B5 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
16 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G403)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
32 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:

There should be less than 0.2 V.

  • Poor ground (G403)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire

10. If multiple failures are found on more than one control unit, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (includes the MICU). If input failures are related to a particular control unit, replace the gauge control module .
