Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal and Installation (With SH-AWD): Installation
NOTE:
- SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations - Refer to: SRS Component Location Index (With SH-AWD), or SRS Component Location Index (Without SH-AWD) and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
- The steering hanger beam is constructed of magnesium alloy and is not repairable if damaged in a collision.
- Special Mag-Form ® self-tapping bolts are used to attach components to the steering hanger beam. If a Mag-Form ® bolt hole is stripped, oversize bolts are available.
- Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam - Install
1. Install the dashboard/steering hanger beam (A) with the steering hanger beam aligning tab (B) through the positioning hole (C) on the body. Special bolt tightening Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.
2. Loosely install the special bolts (A). NOTE:- Before reinstalling the dashboard, be sure the collar bolt (B) can be screwed/unscrewed lightly by hand, and then screw them into the space adjuster (C) fully by hand. Do not tighten them with any tools.
- Before reinstalling the dashboard, screw the special bolt into the collar bolts, and check that they turn together. If they do not turn together, replace the special bolts.
- After setting the dashboard in the body, reinstall all of the mounting bolts but do not tighten them.
3. Loosely install the bolts (D, E, F)
4. Tighten the special bolts and the bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.
NOTE:- As you tighten the bolts, the collar bolts screw out of the space adjuster until they contact the body. Continue tightening the special bolts to the specified torque.
- If the bolt threads of the steering hanger beam are stripped, replace the bolts with one-size larger bolts, which are specifically designed to tighten the instrument panel to the specified torque setting, and provided as service part.
Driver's side 5. Install the sub fuse block (A).

Center area 9. Connect the connector (A)
10. Install the console heater joint duct (B).
11. Connect the connectors (A) 12. Install the harness clips (B).
13. Install the left side heater joint duct (A). Passenger's side 14. Connect the connectors (A)
15. Install the harness clip (B).

- Both A-Pillar Trims - Install - Refer to: Interior Trim Removal and Installation - Pillar Areas .
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
