Reminder Systems (MICU and Gauge Control Module) Input Test (2014 2015)

NOTE: 

MICU 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors E, G, H, N, P, and Q

NOTE:  All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.

3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. Reconnect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
G3 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
H1 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P2 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
N4 PUR Driver's door open Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • Faulty driver's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Driver's door closed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
N2 RED Front passenger's door open Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Front passenger's door closed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
E26 LT GRN Left rear door open Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty left rear door switch
  • Faulty left rear door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Left rear door closed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty left rear door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
E43 BRN Right rear door open Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty right rear door switch
  • Faulty right rear door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Right rear door closed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty right rear door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
E23 WHT Trunk lid open Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty trunk lid latch switch
  • Poor ground (G706) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Trunk lid closed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty trunk lid latch switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
Q4 PUR Disconnect keyless access control unit connector C (24P) Check for continuity between terminal Q4 and keyless access control unit connector C (24P) terminal No. 6: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
P17.P13 RED.BLK Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch in any position other than OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P19.P13 PNK.BLK Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P15.P13 GRN.BLK Combination light switch (headlight) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Gauge Control Module 

5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

6. Disconnect the gauge control module connector A (32P)

7. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

8. With the connector still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
A12 RED Disconnect the electric parking brake control unit 30P connector. Check for continuity between terminal No. A12 and electric parking brake control unit 30P connector terminal No. 17: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire

9. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
A1 PNK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A2 ORN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D11 (10 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A16 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire

10. If multiple failures are found on more than one control unit, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (includes the MICU). If input failures are related to a particular control unit, replace the gauge control module .
