Parking and Back-Up Sensor System Description - Control/Function
Parking and Back-Up Sensor System Operation
The sensors send out ultrasonic waves, receive waves reflected by an obstacle, determine the distance, and use the buzzer and/or multi-information display (MID) to tell the driver that an obstacle is near.
- The parking and back-up sensor system is in active with its switch ON.
- The rear corner and rear center sensors are only activated in shift to R position/mode.
- The system check is performed each time the parking and back-up sensor switch is turned on with the vehicle in the ON mode.
- The sensors must be free of debris, snow, and ice to work correctly.
Sound Pattern of the Parking and Back-Up Sensor Beeper
Detectable range of the front corner sensors are within 100 cm (39.37 in) and rear corner and rear corner sensors are within 110 cm (43.31 in) from each sensor. The beeper ON/OFF time is varied as shown in the table according the sensed distance.
