DTC (Gauge Control Module)
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A .
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
-3. Wait for at least 4 seconds.
-4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B1192 Gauge Control Module Lost Communication With Battery Sensor ECU (LIN BUS Connected) B1193 Gauge Control Module Lost Communication With Steering Switch (LIN BUS Connected) Is DTC B1193 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Fuse check
-1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B2-5 (50 A) Location Main under-hood fuse box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. B2-5 (50 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (+B line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P) -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P): disconnectedTest circuit +B Test point 1 Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P) No. 16 (WHT) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P): disconnectedTest circuit GND Test point 1 Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P) No. 1 (BLK) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G501).
- Open wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P) -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P): disconnectedTest circuit LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN Test point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 24 (BLU) Test point 2 Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P) No. 14 (BLU) Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the steering commander switch assembly .
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the gauge control module and the steering commander switch assembly.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P)
Gauge control module connector A (32P)
Battery sensor 3P connector-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P): disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Battery sensor 3P connector: disconnectedTest circuit LIN Test point 1 Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P) No. 14 (BLU) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the gauge control module and the steering commander switch assembly.
NO
The LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire is not shorted. Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P): disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Battery sensor 3P connector: disconnectedTest circuit LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN Test point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 24 (BLU) Test point 2 Steering commander switch assembly connector B (16P) No. 14 (BLU) Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the gauge control module .
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (BATT SENSOR)/LIN wire between the gauge control module and the steering commander switch assembly.
