EPS indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored (Without CAN Gateway) (2016)
The all sensor learn in the VSA system may not have properly completed.
- Problem verification
-1. Start the engine.
- 2. Check the EPS indicator.
Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO
Go to step 2.
- All DTCs check
-1. All DTCs check with the HDS.
All DTCs
Are there DTCs indicated?
YES
Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Fuse check 1
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B2-1 (60 A) Location Main under-hood fuse box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 4.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. B2-1 (60 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 2
-1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. D23 (7.5 A) Location Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. D23 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (IG1 SAFETY line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
EPS control unit connector A (11P) - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 9 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 SAFETY wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.
- Open wire check (+B EPS line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 2 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 7.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the main under-hood fuse box and the EPS control unit.
- Open wire check (EPS GND line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 1 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The EPS GND wire is OK. Go to step 8.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G401).
- Open wire check (F-CAN A_H, F-CAN A_L lines)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected Test circuit 1 Test point 1 EPS control unit connector (11P) No. 10 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) Test point 2 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 27 Test circuit 2 Test point 1 EPS control unit connector (11P) No. 11 - Refer to: EPS Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) Test point 2 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 28 Is there continuity?
YES
The F-CAN A_H and F-CAN A_L wires are OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and the gauge control module.
- EPS control unit check (update)
-1. Reconnect the following connectors.
EPS control unit connector A (11P) Gauge control module connector A (32P) - 2. Update the EPS control unit if it does not have the latest software.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 4. Start the engine.
- 5. Check the EPS indicator.
Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?
YES
Troubleshooting is complete.
NO
