DTC B2850-13

DTC B2850-13  : Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power or Signal Circuit Open

NOTE:

B2850-13 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power or Signal Circuit Open  

DTC (E-pretensioner)

  1. Problem verification

    - 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B2850-13 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Power or Signal Circuit Open  

    Is DTC B2850-13 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.

  2. Spool sensor input voltage check

    - 1. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Current conditions
    Values Unit
    Driver's Spool Sensor A Input Voltage    
    Driver's Spool Sensor B Input Voltage    

    Are spool sensors A and B indicated 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO (Only spool sensor A is indicated)

    Go to step 5.

    NO (Only spool sensor B is indicated)

    Go to step 7.

  3. Open wire check (L SPOOL PWR line) 1

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit L SPOOL PWR
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 3 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (L SPOOL PWR line) 2

    - 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit L SPOOL PWR
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector No. 10 (GRY)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire between the driver's E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

    NO 

    The L SPOOL PWR wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

  5. Open wire check (L SPOOL A line) 1

    - 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector.

    Test circuit L SPOOL A
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 2 (RED)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    When slowly pulling out the seat belt, does the voltage change from 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .

  6. Open wire check (L SPOOL A line) 2

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector: disconnected
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit L SPOOL A
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector No. 14 (RED)
    Test point 2 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 2 (RED)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The L SPOOL A wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the driver's E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.

  7. Open wire check (L SPOOL B line) 1

    - 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test circuit L SPOOL B
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 1 (ORN)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    When slowly pulling out the seat belt, does the voltage change from 0 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .

  8. Open wire check (L SPOOL B line) 2

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector: disconnected
    Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit L SPOOL B
    Test point 1 Driver's E-pretensioner unit 16P connector No. 8 (ORN)
    Test point 2 Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector No. 1 (ORN)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The L SPOOL B wire is OK. Replace the E-pretensioner unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the driver's E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.
