DTC B0052-13 (2014 2015 2016)

DTC B0052-13  : Open or Increased Resistance in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
• Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection. - Refer to: Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (2016), or Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (2014 2015) .
• Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.

DTC (SRS)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

   - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.

   - 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   DTC Description	DTC
   B0052-13 Open or increased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch

   Is DTC B0052-13 indicated?

   YES 

   The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

2. Driver's seat belt buckle switch check

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P or 4P connector (A) on the front passenger's seat wire harness.

   - 3. Without ACC: Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

   Terminal A	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
   Terminal B	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)

   - 4. With ACC: Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

   Terminal A	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
   Terminal B	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)

   - 5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

   - 6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

   DTC Description	DTC
   B0052-11 Short or decreased resistance in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch

   Is DTC B0052-11 indicated?

   YES 

   Open in the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly , then clear the DTC.

   NO (with ACC)

   Go to step 5.

   NO (without ACC)

   Go to step 3.

3. Open wire check (without ACC) (FRBC/TENSION REDUCER + line)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

   - 3. Remove the jumper wire from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector on the front passenger's seat wire harness.

   - 4. Disconnect the following connector.

   SRS unit connector B (39P)

   - 5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
   	SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
   Test point 2	SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 16 - Refer to: SRS Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2014 2015), or SRS Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016)

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The FRBC/TENSION REDUCER + wire is OK. Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

4. Open wire check (without ACC) (BUCKLE -/SGND line)

   -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
   	SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The BUCKLE -/SGND wire is OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation . If the DTC does not clear, replace the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness.

   NO 

   Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness; check for a poor ground at G604. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

5. Open wire check (with ACC) (FRBC/TENSION REDUCER + line)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

   - 3. Remove the jumper wire from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector on the front passenger's seat wire harness.

   - 4. Disconnect the following connector.

   SRS unit connector B (39P)

   - 5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
   	SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector No. 1 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
   Test point 2	SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 16 - Refer to: SRS Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2014 2015), or SRS Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016)

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The FRBC/TENSION REDUCER + wire is OK. Go to step 6.

   NO 

   Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

6. Open wire check (with ACC) (BUCKLE -/SGND line)

   -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector (on the front passenger's seat wire harness): disconnected
   	SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector No. 2 (on the front passenger's seat wire harness)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The BUCKLE -/SGND wire is OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation . If the DTC does not clear, replace the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness.

   NO 

   Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness; check for a poor ground at G604. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
