DTC B0001-1A : Decreased Resistance in the Driver's Airbag First Inflator
Special Tools Required
-SRS Inflator Simulator 07SAZ-TB4011A
-SRS Simulator Lead J 070AZ-SNAA100
-SRS Short Canceller 070AZ-SAA0100
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection - Refer to: Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (2014 2015), or Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020) .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-1A Decreased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-1A indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Driver's airbag inflator check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove the driver's airbag.
- 4. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness) NOTE:Make sure to work with the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (A) that has a guide tab (B) on the right side of the No. 2 terminal as shown.
- 5. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 1 (on the cable reel harness) Terminal B Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector No. 2 (on the cable reel harness) - 6. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- 7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 8. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B0001-1A Decreased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-1A indicated?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Short to another wire in the driver's airbag first inflator; replace the driver's airbag , then clear the DTC.
- Cable reel check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Remove a jumper wire from the driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector on the cable reel harness.
- 4. Remove the column covers.
- 5. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- 6. Connect the terminals of SRS simulator lead J to the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ω connectors), then connect SRS simulator lead J to cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- 7. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- 8. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 9. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 10.Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC B0001-1A Decreased resistance in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-1A indicated?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Short to another wire in the cable reel; replace the cable reel , then clear the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (DR INF1+ line to DR INF1- line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation (2014 2015 2016) - 4. Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead J. Do not disconnect SRS simulator lead J from cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- 5. Connect the SRS short canceller to SRS unit connector A (39P) terminals No. 8 and No. 9.
- 6. Measure the resistance of the test points.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's airbag first inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): connected to SRS simulator lead J SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 and No. 9: connected to SRS short canceller Test circuit DR INF1+, DR INF1- Test point SRS simulator lead J red terminal Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MΩ?
YES
The DR INF1+ and DR INF1- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation (2014 2015 2016) . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
NO
Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
