Reminder Systems (MICU, Rear MICU, and Gauge Control Module) Input Test (2016)

NOTE: 

MICU 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors G, H, P, and Q - Refer to: Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation, .

.NOTE:  All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.

3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. Reconnect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
G6 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G506)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
H1 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P2 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
Q4 PNK Disconnect keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) Check for continuity between terminal Q4 and keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) terminal No. 2:
There should be continuity.
An open or high resistance in the wire
E24 LT BLU Driver's door open Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • Faulty driver's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Driver's door closed Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty driver's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
E25 YEL Front passenger's door open Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Front passenger's door closed Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty front passenger's door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch in any position other than OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Combination light switch (headlight) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13:
There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

Rear MICU 

5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

6. Disconnect rear fuse box connectors A and B

.NOTE:  All connector views are wire side of female terminals.

7. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.

8. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
A1 BLK/WHT In all ignition switch positions Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G605)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
B16 BLK/WHT In all ignition switch positions Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G605)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
B26 BLK In all ignition switch positions Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G606)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
A29 BLK In all ignition switch positions Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G606)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
B12 GRN Left rear door open Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Faulty left rear door switch
  • Faulty left rear door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Left rear door closed Check for continuity to ground:
There should be no continuity.
  • Faulty left rear door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
B11 WHT/PNK Right rear door open Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Faulty right rear door switch
  • Faulty right rear door switch ground
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Right rear door closed Check for continuity to ground:
There should be no continuity.
  • Faulty right rear door switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
A9 GRN Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal A9 and power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) terminal No. 5:
There should be continuity.
An open or high resistance in the wire

Gauge Control Module 

9. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

10. Disconnect the gauge control module connector A (32P)

11. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

12. Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
A1 GRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A2* 1 GRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D11 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A2* 2 GRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D24 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Blown No. H7 (10 A) fuse in the auxiliary driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty DC-DC converter
  • Faulty DC-DC converter IG1 relay1
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A12 YEL Parking brake pedal pressed Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Parking brake pedal released Check for continuity to ground:
There should be no continuity.
  • Faulty parking brake switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
A16 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire

*1: Without auto idle stop system

*2: With auto idle stop system

13. If multiple failures are found on more than one control unit, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box - Refer to: Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation, and/or rear fuse/relay box (includes the MICU) . If input failures are related to a particular control unit, replace the gauge control module .
