DTC (Gauge Control Module)
If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A - Refer to:

- Problem verification
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
- 3. Wait for at least 4 seconds.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B1192 Gauge control module lost communication with Battery sensor ECU (LIN bus connected) B1193 Gauge control module lost communication with Steering Switch (LIN bus connected) B1196 Gauge control module lost communication with Battery Blower (LIN bus connected) Is DTC B1196 indicated?
YES: B1196 indicated
Go to step 2.
YES: B1192, B1193, and B1196 indicated
Go to step 6.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Fuse check
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. E21 (7.5 A) Location Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. E21 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (IG1 OPTION line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
Battery fan motor 3P connector - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Battery fan motor 3P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Battery fan motor 3P connector (male terminals) No. 3: Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1 OPTION wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- Open wire check (BATT FAN GND line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Battery fan motor 3P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Battery fan motor 3P connector (male terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The BATT FAN GND wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G402).
- Open wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Battery fan motor 3P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 24 - Refer to:
Gauge Control Module Input Test (2014 2015), or
Gauge Control Module Input Test (2016), or
Gauge Control Module Input Test (2017 2018 2019 2020)Test point 2 Battery fan motor 3P connector (male terminals) No. 2: Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the battery fan motor .
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (METER) wire.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Battery sensor 2P connector
Battery fan motor 3P connector
Gauge control module connector A (32P)
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Battery sensor 2P connector: disconnected
Battery fan motor 3P connector: disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnected
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Battery fan motor 3P connector (male terminals) No. 2: Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the LIN (METER) wire.
NO
The LIN (METER) wire is not shorted. Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Battery sensor 2P connector: disconnected
Battery fan motor 3P connector: disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnected
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) No. 24 - Refer to:
Gauge Control Module Input Test (2014 2015), or
Gauge Control Module Input Test (2016), or
Gauge Control Module Input Test (2017 2018 2019 2020)Test point 2 Battery fan motor 3P connector (male terminals) No. 2: Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the gauge control module .
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (METER) wire.
