DTC (Gauge Control Module)
If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A - Refer to:

- Problem verification
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
- 3. Wait for at least 4 seconds.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B1192 Gauge control module lost communication with Battery sensor ECU (LIN bus connected) B1193 Gauge control module lost communication with Steering Switch (LIN bus connected) B1196 Gauge control module lost communication with Battery Blower (LIN bus connected) Are DTC B1192 and/orB1193 indicated?
YES: B1193 indicated
Go to step 2.
YES: B1192, B1193, and B1196 indicated
Go to step 6.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Fuse check
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. C16 (10 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. No. C16 (10 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (+B BACK UP line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector (female terminals) No. 16: Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector (female terminals) No. 16:
Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The +B BACK UP wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- Open wire check (SGND line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector (female terminals) No. 1:Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The SGND wire is OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G507).
- Open wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 Gauge control module connector A (32P) (female terminals) No. 24 - Refer to:

YES
Replace the audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch (with navigation) or the audio remote-HFL switch (without navigation) - Refer to: ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal and Installation (2017 2018 2019 2020),
NO
An open or poor connection in the LIN (METER) wire.
- Shorted wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector
Gauge control module connector A (32P)Battery sensor 2P connector- 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Battery sensor 2P connector: disconnectedTest point 1 With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector (female terminals) No. 14:
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector (female terminals) No. 14:Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the LIN (METER) wire.
NO
The LIN (METER) wire is not shorted. Go to step 7.
- Open wire check (LIN (METER) line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
With navigation: Audio remote/HFL-navigation voice control switch 16P connector: disconnected
Without navigation: Audio remote-HFL switch 16P connector: disconnected
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
