EPS - EPS indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored (2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018)

EPS indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored 

NOTE:  The all sensor learn in the VSA system may not have properly completed.

1. Problem verification

   -1. Start the engine.

   -2. Check the EPS indicator.

   Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?

   YES 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

   NO 

   Go to step 2.

2. All DTCs check except EPS system

   -1. Test-drive the vehicle at 10 km/h (6 mph) or more.

   -2. All DTCs check with the HDS.

   All DTCs

   Are there DTCs indicated?

   YES 

   Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

   NO 

   Go to step 3.

3. Gauge control module operation check

   -1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .

   Does the EPS indicator blinkΩ

   YES 

   Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Replace the gauge control module .

4. Fuse check 1

   -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

   -2. Check the following fuse.

   Fuse	No. A1-1 (70 A)
   Location	Under-hood fuse/relay box

   Is the fuse OK?

   YES 

   The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.

   NO 

   Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. A1-1 (70 A) fuse circuit.

5. Fuse check 2

   -1. Check the following fuse.

   Fuse	No. B24 (7.5 A)
   Location	Under-dash fuse/relay box

   Is the fuse OK?

   YES 

   The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 6.

   NO 

   Replace the fuse. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then the OFF mode. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. B24 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.

6. Open wire check (+B EPS line)

   -1. Disconnect the following connector.

   EPS control unit connector A (11P)

   -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	OFF mode
   	EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
   Test circuit	+B EPS
   Test point 1	EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 2 (WHT)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 7.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.

7. Open wire check (IG1 VSA/ABS line)

   -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

   -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	ON mode
   	EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
   Test circuit	IG1 VSA/ABS
   Test point 1	EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 9 (GRY)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   The IG1 VSA/ABS wire is OK. Go to step 8.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.

8. Open wire check (GND line)

   -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

   -2. Reconnect the following connector.

   EPS control unit connector A (11P)

   -3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

   -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	ON mode
   Test circuit	GND
   Test point 1	EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 1 (BLK)
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there 0.1 V or less?

   YES 

   The GND wire is OK. Go to step 9.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G403).

9. EPS control unit check (update)

   -1. Update the EPS control unit  if it does not have the latest software.

   -2. Start the engine.

   -3. Check the EPS indicator.

   Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?

   YES 

   Troubleshooting is complete.

   NO 

   Replace the EPS control unit .
