SRS Simulator Lead J 070AZ-SNAA100
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.

- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .
-2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC Is DTC 11-8x or 11-Ax indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Driver's airbag inflator check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the access panel (A) from the steering wheel, then disconnect the driver's airbag inflator 4P connector (B) on the cable reel harness.
-4. Connect the terminals of SRS simulator lead J to the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ω connectors), then connect SRS simulator lead J to the driver's airbag inflator 4P connector on the cable reel harness.
-5. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
-6. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .
-7. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-8. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC Is DTC 11-8x or 11-Ax indicated?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Short to power in the driver's airbag first or second inflator; replace the driver's airbag , then clear the DTC.
- Cable reel check
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Remove the column covers .
-4. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-5. Connect the terminals of SRS simulator lead J to the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ω connectors), then connect SRS simulator lead J to cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-6. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
-7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .
-8. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-9. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC Is DTC 11-8x or 11-Ax indicated?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Short to power in the cable reel; replace the cable reel , then clear the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, LA2- lines to power)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) -4. Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead J. Do not disconnect SRS simulator lead J from cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-5. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
-6. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-7. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition ON mode Driver's airbag inflator 4P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): connected to SRS simulator lead J Test circuit LA1+, LA1- Test point 1 SRS simulator lead J black terminal Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit LA2+, LA2- Test point 1 SRS simulator lead J red terminal Test point 2 Body ground Is there 0.2 V or less?
YES
The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
NO
Short to power in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
