DTC B0070-12

DTC B0070-12  : Short to Power in the Driver's Seat Belt Tensioner

DTC Description DTC
B0070-12 Short to power in the driver's seat belt tensioner  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

    -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

    B0070-12 Short to power in the driver's seat belt tensioner  

    Is DTC B0070-12 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Shorted wire check (LRP+, LRP- lines to power) 1

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (39P)

    -4. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

    -5. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Test circuit LRP+
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 19
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit LRP-
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 20
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 0.2 V or less?

    YES 

    The LRP+ and LRP- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness.

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Shorted wire check (LRP+, LRP- lines to power) 2

    -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the left side B-pillar lower trim .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    Driver's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (on the floor wire harness)

    -5. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

    -6. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

    -7. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
    SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected
    Driver's seat belt tensioner 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected
    Test circuit LRP+
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 19
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit LRP-
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 20
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 0.2 V or less?

    YES 

    The LRP+ and LRP- wires are OK. Short to power in the driver's seat belt tensioner; replace the driver's seat belt , then clear the DTC.

    NO 

    Short to power in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
