DTC B0001-2B : Short to Another Wire Harness in the Driver's Airbag First Inflator
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .
-2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
-3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC B0001-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0001-2B indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- DTC check
-1. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC B0010-2B Short to another wire harness in the front passenger's airbag first inflator B0011-2B Short to another wire harness in the front passenger's airbag second inflator B0001-2B Short to another wire harness in the driver's airbag first inflator Is DTC B0010-2B or B0011-2B indicated with DTC B0001-2B?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Shorted wire check (LA1 lines to another lines)
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected DTC SRS unit connector A (39P) Test point 1 Test point 2 Test circuits From terminal Test circuits To terminal B0010-2B LA1+ No. 7 RA1+ No. 5 LA1- No. 8 RA1- No. 6 DTC SRS unit connector A (39P) Test point 1 Test point 2 Test circuits From terminal Test circuits To terminal B0011-2B LA1+ No. 7 RA2+ No. 1 LA1- No. 8 RA2- No. 2 Is there continuity?
YES
Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
NO
The LA1 wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 1
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Test circuit LA1+, LA2+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 7 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 3 Test circuit LA1-, LA2- Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 4 Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector A (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 2
-1. Remove the access panel from the steering wheel .
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's airbag inflator 4P connector (on the cable reel harness) -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Driver's airbag inflator 4P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Test circuit LA1+, LA2+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 7 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 3 Test circuit LA1-, LA2- Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 4 Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty driver's airbag first inflator; replace the driver's airbag , then clear the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (LA1+ line to LA2+ line, LA1- line to LA2- line) 3
-1. Remove the column covers .
-2. Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode SRS unit connector A (39P): disconnected Driver's airbag inflator 4P connector (on the cable reel harness): disconnected Cable reel connector B (4P) (on the dashboard wire harness): disconnected Test circuit LA1+, LA2+ Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 7 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 3 Test circuit LA1-, LA2- Test point 1 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 8 Test point 2 SRS unit connector A (39P) No. 4 Is there continuity?
YES
Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC.
NO
The LA1+, LA1-, LA2+, and LA2- wires are OK. Short to another wire in the cable reel; replace the cable reel , then clear the DTC.
