DTC B00A0-87 : Lost Communication With the Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures , General Troubleshooting Information , and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection - Refer to: Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (2014 2015), or Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020) .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.
- Before replacing the front passenger's weight sensor unit, check the front passenger's weight sensor unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the front passenger's weight sensor unit software , and retest.

DTC (SRS)
- Problem verification
-1. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.
- 2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B00A0-87 Lost communication with the front passenger's weight sensor unit Is DTC B00A0-87 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- Fuse check 1
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. E24 (7.5 A) Location Passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box No. E24 (7.5 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire harness, floor wire harness, or front passenger's seat wire harness); replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box - Refer to: Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation, or Passenger's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation , then clear the DTC.
- Fuse check 2
-1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. D12 (20 A) Location Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Replace the fuse, then turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the fuse blows again, check for a short to ground in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box No. D12 (20 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire harness); replace the dashboard wire harness, then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box - Refer to: Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation, or Passenger's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation , then clear the DTC.
- Connector connection check 1
-1. From under the front passenger's seat, check the connection of the connector (A) between the floor wire harness and the front passenger's seat wire harness.
Is the connector OK?
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
Go to step 5.
- System check 1
-1. Repair the poor connector connection which was the cause of the problem in step 4.
- 2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B00A0-87 Lost communication with the front passenger's weight sensor unit Is DTC B00A0-87 indicated?
YES
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 6.
NO
The system is OK at this time.
- Connector connection check 2
-1. Check the connection between the front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P) and the front passenger's weight sensor unit.
Is the connector OK?
YES
Go to step 8.
NO
Go to step 7.
- System check 2
-1. Repair the poor connector connection which was the cause of the problem in step 6.
- 2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B00A0-87 Lost communication with the front passenger's weight sensor unit Is DTC B00A0-87 indicated?
YES
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then go to step 8.
NO
The system is OK at this time.
- Open wire check (POW line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P) - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P): disconnected Test circuit POW Test point 1 Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P) No. 3 (YEL) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The POW wire is OK. Go to step 9.
NO
Open in the dashboard wire harness, the floor wire harness, the front passenger's seat wire harness, or faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box; replace the faulty harness or the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box - Refer to: Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation, or Passenger's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation , then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (GND/SGND line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P): disconnected Test circuit GND Test point 1 Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P) No. 1 (BLK) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND/SGND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
NO
Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; check for a poor ground at G604. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (OPDS/ODUS line)
-1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector B (39P) - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation, - 3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P): disconnected SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected Test circuit OPDS Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 11 Test point 2 Body ground Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MΩ?
YES
The OPDS/ODUS wire is not shorted. Go to step 11.
NO
Short to ground in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
- Shorted wire check (OPDS/ODUS line to power)
-1. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P): disconnected SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected Test circuit OPDS Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 11 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 0.2 V or less?
YES
The OPDS/ODUS wire is not shorted to power. Go to step 12.
NO
Short to power in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
- Open wire check (OPDS/ODUS line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P): disconnected SRS unit connector B (39P): disconnected Test circuit OPDS/ODUS Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 11 Test point 2 Front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P) No. 4 (LT GRN) Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The OPDS/ODUS wire is OK. Replace the front passenger's weight sensor unit , then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the SRS unit - Refer to: SRS Unit Removal and Installation .
NO
Open in the harness between SRS unit connector B (39P) terminal No. 11 and front passenger's weight sensor unit connector A (6P) terminal No. 4 (floor wire harness or front passenger's seat wire harness); replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
