DTC B0082-12  : Short to Power in the Selectable Energy Absorption Device of the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Tensioner

DTC Description DTC
B0082-12 Short to power in the selectable energy absorption device of the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Apply the parking brake.

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B0082-12 Short to power in the selectable energy absorption device of the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  

    Is DTC B082-12 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Selectable energy absorption device check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the right side B-pillar lower trim .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    Selectable energy absorption device 2P connector (on the floor wire harness)

    -5. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.

    -6. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B0082-12 Short to power in the selectable energy absorption device of the front passenger's seat belt tensioner  

    Is DTC B0082-12 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Short to power in the selectable energy absorption device; replace the front passenger's seat belt assembly , then clear the DTC.

  3. Shorted wire check (RVEA+, RVEA- lines to power)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (57P)

    -4. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected
    Selectable energy absorption device 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (57P) No. 25
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (57P) No. 26
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 0.2 V or less?

    YES 

    The RVEA+ and RVEA- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (57P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness.

    NO 

    Short to power in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.

DTC (SRS)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Apply the parking brake.

    -2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC B082-12 indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  2. Selectable energy absorption device check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Remove the right side B-pillar lower trim .

    -4. Disconnect the following connector.

    Selectable energy absorption device 2P connector (on the floor wire harness)

    -5. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.

    -6. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

    -7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

    -8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC B0082-12 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Short to power in the selectable energy absorption device; replace the front passenger's seat belt assembly , then clear the DTC.

  3. Shorted wire check (RVEA+, RVEA- lines to power)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    SRS unit connector B (57P)

    -4. Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected
    Selectable energy absorption device 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (57P) No. 25
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test point 1 SRS unit connector B (57P) No. 26
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 0.2 V or less?

    YES 

    The RVEA+ and RVEA- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (57P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness.

    NO 

    Short to power in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
