Automatic Dimming Mirrors - Control/Function
Basic Control/Function
Based on each signal, the control unit judges whether the light at the rear of the vehicle is stronger than the light sensed at its front. The control unit judges if the light sensed by the rear-facing lux level sensor is brighter than the light from the front-facing lux level sensor, it transmits a signal relaying that information to the drive circuit. When shifting the transmission to R position/mode, the while automatic dimming control is in operation, the automatic dimming is turns off. When shifting the transmission out of R position/mode, the automatic dimming control function is reactivated.
When the automatic dimming off button is turned ON, the control unit receives signals from each sensor. Based on the difference between the two lux levels (the light outside the vehicle and the light from the headlights of the other vehicle, etc.) the control unit controls the electro-chromic gel to reduce glare.
