Audio System - ODMD(TM) does not dim or brighten with dimmer(With Navigation) (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022)

ODMD (TM) does not dim or brighten with dimmer 

NOTE: 

• Check the vehicle battery condition first .
• Check for B-CAN DTCs and resolve them before troubleshooting.
• Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Problem verification

   -1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

   -2. Turn the combination light switch to the parking light position.

   -3. Rotate the dashlights brightness controller knob several times.

   Does the ODMD (TM) brightness change?

   YES 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

   NO 

   The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

2. Determine possible failure area (interior lights circuit, others)

   -1. Check if several other buttons that are not related to the audio system are illuminated.

   Are the buttons illuminated?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Troubleshoot the interior lights circuit.

3. Determine possible failure area (audio-navigation unit, others)

   -1. Make sure the Sync Display Brightness in the System Settings is ON.

   -2. Rotate the dashlights brightness controller knob several times.

   Does the center display brightness change?

   YES 

   Replace the audio-navigation unit .

   NO 

   Go to step 4.

4. Open wire check (B-CAN_H line, B-CAN_L line)

   -1. Turn the combination light switch off.

   -2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

   -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

   NOTE:  Eject the disc before disconnecting the audio-navigation unit to prevent damaging the CD/DVD player's load mechanism.

   Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P)

   Gauge control module 32P connector

   -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	OFF mode
   	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P): disconnected
   	Gauge control module 32P connector: disconnected

   With Color Multi-Information Display (MID) 

   Test circuit	B-CAN_H
   Test point 1	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 4 (PNK)
   Test point 2	Gauge control module 32P connector No. 25 (PNK)

   Test circuit	B-CAN_L
   Test point 1	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 2 (BLU)
   Test point 2	Gauge control module 32P connector No. 26 (BLU)

   Without Color Multi-Information Display (MID) 

   Test circuit	B-CAN_H
   Test point 1	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 4 (PNK)
   Test point 2	Gauge control module 32P connector No. 7 (PNK)

   Test circuit	B-CAN_L
   Test point 1	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 2 (BLU)
   Test point 2	Gauge control module 32P connector No. 8 (BLU)

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Replace the audio-navigation unit .

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the gauge control module.
