DTC (Gauge Control Module)
NOTE:
- SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations , and precautions and procedures before doing repairs or servicing.
- After testing, clear the SRS control unit DTCs.
- If DTC U0299 is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC first.
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode and then the ON mode.
-3. Press the heated steering wheel button.
-4. Wait for at least 5 seconds.
-5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B20A3 HSW Drive Circuit Failure Is DTC B20A3 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Heated steering wheel control unit HSW SWITCH line output check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure .
-3. Remove the steering wheel , and the steering wheel rear cover.
-4. Install the steering wheel without the driver's airbag and the steering wheel rear cover.
-5. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure .
-6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-7. Turn the steering wheel at 180 deg..
-8. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Heated steering wheel switch OFF to ONTest circuit HSW SWITCH Test point 1 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 5 (LT BLU) Test point 2 Body ground Is there a change in voltage 0 V to 12 V?
YES
Replace the heated steering wheel control unit .
NO
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 6.
- Heated steering wheel control unit HSW SW +B line output check
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Heated steering wheel switch ONTest circuit HSW SW +B Test point 1 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 14 (PNK) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 12 V?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Go to step 5.
- Open wire check (HSW SWITCH, HSW SW +B lines)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector: disconnected
Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector: disconnectedTest circuit HSW SWITCH Test point 1 Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector No. 3 (LT BLU) Test point 2 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 5 (LT BLU) Test circuit HSW SW +B Test point 1 Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector No. 4 (PNK) Test point 2 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 14 (PNK) Is there continuity?
YES
The HSW SWITCH, HSW SW +B wires are OK. Go to step 7.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- Shorted wire check (HSW SWITCH, HSW SW +B lines)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector: disconnected
Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector: disconnectedTest circuit HSW SWITCH Test point 1 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 5 (LT BLU) Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit HSW SW +B Test point 1 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 14 (PNK) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the wire.
NO
- Shorted wire check (HSW SWITCH line to power)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode
Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector: disconnected
Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector: disconnectedTest circuit HSW SWITCH Test point 1 Heated steering wheel switch 5P connector No. 3 (LT BLU) Test point 2 Heated steering wheel control unit 14P connector No. 5 (LT BLU) Is there battery voltage?
YES
Repair a short to power in the HSW SWITCH wire.
NO
The HSW SWITCH wire is OK. Go to step 7.
- Heated steering wheel switch check
-1. Do the heated steering wheel switch test .
Is the heated steering wheel switch OK?
YES
Replace the heated steering wheel control unit .
NO
