Exterior Lights (MICU and Relay Control Module) Input Test (2018 2019 2020)
NOTE:
- If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A .
- Before testing, make sure the No. C16, No. C20, No. C22, No. C24, No. C26, and No. C27 fuses are OK.
- Before testing, make sure the No. D11 fuse is OK.
Relay Control Module
1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
2. Disconnect relay control module connectors A, B, C, and D.
NOTE: All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.
3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:
- If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals are OK, go to step 4.
4. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5.
| Cavity | Wire | Test condition | Test: Desired result | Possible cause if desired results not obtained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B13 | RED | Under all conditions | Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The left front side marker light and left front parking light should come on. |
|
| Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The right front side marker light and right front parking light should come on. |
|
|||
| Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The taillights should come on. |
|
|||
| Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The inner taillights and license plate lights should come on. |
|
|||

|
| A6 | BLU | Under all conditions | Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The daytime running lights should come on. |
|
5. Reconnect the connectors to the relay control module, do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6.
| Cavity | Wire | Test condition | Test: Desired result | Possible cause if desired results not obtained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B10 | PNK | Under all conditions | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. |
|
| B9 | TAN | Vehicle ON mode | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. |
|
| B1 | BRN | In all power modes | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. |
|
| D12 | BLK | In all power modes | Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. |
|
MICU
6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
7. Disconnect driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors C, F, G, H, P, and Q.
NOTE: All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.
8. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:
- If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals are OK, go to step 9.
9. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 10.
| Cavity | Wire | Test condition | Test: Desired result | Possible cause if desired results not obtained |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F18 | GRY | Relay control module connector B (16P) disconnected | Check for continuity between terminal F18 and the relay control module connector B (16P) terminal No. 14: There should be continuity. | An open or high resistance in the wire |
| Q4 | PUR | Keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) disconnected | Check for continuity between terminal Q4 and the keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) terminal No. 2: There should be continuity. | An open or high resistance in the wire |
10. Reconnect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, the MICU must be faulty; replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box .
