Exterior Lights (MICU and Relay Control Module) Input Test (2016 2017)

NOTE: 

Relay Control Module 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect relay control module connectors B, C, and D

.NOTE:  All connector views are shown from the wire side of the female terminals.

3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
B13 RED Under all conditions Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The left front side marker light and left front parking light should come on.
  • Faulty taillight relay
  • Blown bulb
  • Poor ground (G301) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The right front side marker light and right front parking light should come on.
  • Faulty taillight relay
  • Blown bulb
  • Poor ground (G201) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The taillights should come on.
  • Faulty taillight relay
  • Faulty taillight
  • Poor ground (G706) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The inner taillights and license plate lights should come on.
  • Faulty taillight relay
  • Faulty inner taillight
  • Faulty LED
  • Poor ground (G705) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C6.C8 LT GRN.RED Under all conditions Connect terminals C6 and C8 with a jumper wire: The left headlight (high beam) should come on.
  • Blown No. C24 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty left LED control unit assembly (high beam)
  • Poor ground (G301) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
D6.C1 LT GRN.BRN Under all conditions Connect terminals D6 and C1 with a jumper wire: The right headlight (high beam) should come on.
  • Blown No. C20 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty right LED control unit assembly (high beam)
  • Poor ground (G201) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

5. Reconnect the connectors to the relay control module, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
B10 PNK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
B9 TAN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D11 (10 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
B1 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G401)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
D12 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G301)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire

MICU 

6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

7. Disconnect driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors C, F, G, H, P, and Q

8. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

9. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
F18 GRY Relay control module connector B (16P) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal F18 and the relay control module connector B (16P) terminal No. 14: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
F19 GRY Left LED control unit assembly 6P connector (low beam) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal F19 and the left LED control unit assembly 6P connector (low beam) terminal No. 3: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
F20 GRY Right LED control unit assembly 6P connector (low beam) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal F20 and the right LED control unit assembly 6P connector (low beam) terminal No. 3: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
Q4 PUR Keyless access control unit connector C (24P) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal Q4 and the keyless access control unit connector C (24P) terminal No. 6: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire

10. Reconnect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
F23 PNK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C2 BLU Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. An open or high resistance in the wire
G3 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
H1 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P2 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
P17.P13 RED.LT BLU Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch in any position other than OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P19.P13 PNK.LT BLU Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V..
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P15.P13 GRN.LT BLU Combination light switch (headlight) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V..
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P20.P13 GRN.LT BLU Combination light switch lever pulled (Passing) Measure the voltage between terminals P20 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch lever released (OFF) Measure the voltage between terminals P20 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P21.P13 LT BLU.LT BLU Combination light switch (Dimmer) in high beam position Measure the voltage between terminals P21 and P13: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch (Dimmer) in low beam position Measure the voltage between terminals P21 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
