DTC (PGM-FI)

  1. DTC check

-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC
P2649 Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid A (Bank 1) Circuit High Voltage
P2659 Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid A (Bank 2) Circuit High Voltage

Are DTC P2649 and P2659 indicated at the same time?

    YES

    Go to step 2.

    NO

    Go to step 3.

  2. Fuse check

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. C3 (15 A)
    Location Under-hood fuse/relay box

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES

    Go to step 3.

    NO

Replace the No. C3 (15 A) fuse. If the fuse is blown again, repair a short in the IG1(VBSOL)/IG1 ACG FR circuit or the E EGR circuit between the PCM and the EGR valve. If they are OK, check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good PCM - Refer to: PCM Removal and Installation (2014 2015), or PCM Removal and Installation (2016) . Also replace the No. C3 (15 A) fuse.

  3. Problem verification

-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 2 seconds.

    - 2. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Threshold Current conditions
    Values Unit Values Unit
MAF SENSOR Less than 0.1 V

Do the current condition(s) match the threshold?

    YES

The failure is duplicated. Go to step 4.

    NO

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the A/T System (2014 2015),  or How to Troubleshoot the Brake Booster Pressure Monitoring System (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020), or How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems(With Auto Idle Stop System) (2016),  or How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems .

  4. Open wire check (IG1(VBSOL)/IG1 ACG FR line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    MAF sensor/IAT sensor 5P connector

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode

Test point 1 MAF sensor/IAT sensor 5P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES

The IG1(VBSOL)/IG1 ACG FR wire is OK. Go to step 5.

    NO

Repair an open in the IG1(VBSOL)/IG1 ACG FR wire between the MAF sensor/IAT sensor and the under dash fuse/relay box. If the wire is OK, do the PCM power and ground circuit troubleshooting - Refer to: PCM Power and Ground Circuit Troubleshooting (2016), or PCM Power and Ground Circuit Troubleshooting (2017 2018 2019 2020), or PCM Power and Ground Circuit Troubleshooting (2014 2015) .

  5. Determine possible failure area (VGP line, others)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
MAF sensor/IAT sensor 5P connector: disconnected
Test point 1 MAF sensor/IAT sensor 5P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Body ground
    GHH318625Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

    Is there 190-210 k-?Ω

    YES

    Go to step 8.

    NO

    Go to step 6.

  6. Shorted wire check (VGP line)

-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCM connector A (51P)

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
MAF sensor/IAT sensor 5P connector: disconnected
