ABS indicator, brake system indicator (red), VSA indicator, and brake system indicator (amber) do not go off
NOTE: Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the VSA modulator-control unit. If it does not, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting - Refer to: DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (Without CAN Gateway) (2017 2018)
- DTC check (VSA modulator-control unit)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame Is DTC indicated?
YES
Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO
Go to step 2.
- Gauge control module operation check
- 1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function.
Is the gauge control module OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
- Fuse check 1
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. B2-7 (20 A) Location Main under-hood fuse box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 4.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. B2-7 (20 A) fuse circuit.
- Fuse check 2
- 1. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. D23 (7. 5 A) Location Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box Is the fuse OK?
YES
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.
NO
Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. D23 (7. 5 A) fuse circuit.
- Open wire check (IG1B DR1(7. 5A) line)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 36 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018 2019 2020) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The IG1B DR1 (7. 5A) wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Open wire check (FSR+B line)
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 4 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018 2019 2020) Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
The FSR+B wire is OK. Go to step 7.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the main under-hood fuse box and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Open wire check (PGND line)
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 3 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018 2019 2020) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
The PGND wire is OK. Go to step 8.
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and body ground (G203).
- Open wire check (F-CAN A_H, F-CAN A_L lines)
- 1. Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P) - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector: disconnected Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected Test circuit 1 Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 38 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018 2019 2020) Test point 2 Gauge control module connector A (32P) (female terminals) No. 27: (1) Test circuit 2 Test point 1 VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector No. 26 - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018 2019 2020) Test point 2 Gauge control module connector A (32P) (female terminals) No. 28: (1) Is there continuity?
YES
The F-CAN A_H and F-CAN A_L wires are OK. Replace the VSA modulator-control unit .
NO
Repair an open in the wire between the VSA modulator-control unit and the gauge control module.
