Brake Booster Pressure Monitoring System Description - Overview (2016 2017 2018 2019 2020)
Function
The brake booster pressure monitoring system adopted in this vehicle is used to prevent reduced braking force due to the decreased amount of vacuum in the brake booster when the engine transitions to the automatic idling stop. Attaching a brake booster pressure sensor to the brake booster enables the PCM to monitor the amount of vacuum in it; the PCM can activate the auto idling stop because there is enough vacuum in the booster or deactivate the auto idling stop because the PCM needs to increase the amount of vacuum in the brake booster.
The idling stop indicator blinks when this system fails.
Conditions for the Brake Booster Pressure Monitoring System to Allow the Engine's Transition to the Automatic Idling Stop or to Prohibit it
The brake booster vacuum must reach the established point to ensure enough braking force and the engine must meet the activation conditions for the brake booster pressure monitoring system to allow for auto idling stop activation. If the system detects that there is not enough vacuum in the brake booster, the brake booster pressure monitoring system prohibits the engine's transition to the automatic idling stop and the engine does not transition to the automatic idling stop.
