Exterior Lights (MICU and Relay Control Module) Input Test (2017 2018 2019 2020)

NOTE: 

Relay Control Module 

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect relay control module connectors.

Relay control module connector A (10P) (female terminals):  Relay control module connector B (16P) (female terminals): Relay control module connector C (8P) (female terminals): Relay control module connector D (14P) (female terminals):

3. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
B13 TAN Under all conditions Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire:
The left front parking light should come on.
  • Faulty small light relay
  • Faulty left LED control unit assembly
  • Poor ground (G201) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire:
The right front parking light should come on.
  • Faulty small light relay
  • Faulty right LED control unit assembly
  • Poor ground (G202) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire:
The taillights should come on.
  • Faulty small light relay
  • Faulty taillight
  • Faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Poor ground (G605 and/or G606) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire:
The inner taillights and license plate lights should come on.
  • Faulty small light relay
  • Faulty inner taillight
  • Faulty license light
  • Poor ground (G603) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
A5 PUR Under all conditions Connect terminal to ground with a jumper wire: The fog lights should come on.
  • Blown No. C18 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty fog lights
  • Faulty fog light relay
  • Poor ground (G201/G202) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
C6C8 PNKBRN Under all conditions Connect terminals C6 and C8 with a jumper wire:
The left headlight (high beam) should come on.
  • Blown No. C24 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty left LED control unit assembly
  • Poor ground (G201) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
D6C1 TANGRN Under all conditions Connect terminals D6 and C1 with a jumper wire:
The right headlight (high beam) should come on.
  • Blown No. C20 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty right LED control unit assembly
  • Poor ground (G202) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

5. Reconnect the connectors to the relay control module, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
B10 GRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
B1 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G204)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire

MICU 

6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

7. Disconnect driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors.

Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector C (2P) (female terminals):  Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (32P) (female terminals): Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector G (16P) (female terminals): Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector H (13P) (female terminals): Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector P (24P) (female terminals): Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector Q (20P) (female terminals):

8. Inspect the connectors and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

9. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
F13 YEL Relay control module connector B (16P) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal F18 and the relay control module connector B (16P) terminal No. 14:There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
Q4 PNK Keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) disconnected Check for continuity between terminal Q4 and the keyless access/TPMS control unit connector A (32P) terminal No. 2:There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire

10. Reconnect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired results not obtained
G16 GRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. C16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
C2 GRN Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
An open or high resistance in the wire
G6 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G506)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
H1 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G502)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P2 BRN In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G501)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
P17P13 PNKBLK Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch in any position other than OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P17 and P13:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P19P13 GRYBLK Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P19 and P13:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P15P13 BRNBLK Combination light switch (headlight) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P15 and P13:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P20P13 PNKBLK Combination light switch lever pulled (Passing) Measure the voltage between terminals P20 and P13:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch lever released (OFF) Measure the voltage between terminals P20 and P13:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
P18P13 PURBLK Combination light switch (FRONT FOG position) ON Measure the voltage between terminals P18 and P13:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch OFF Measure the voltage between terminals P18 and P13: There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire

P21P13 LT BLUBLK Combination light switch (Dimmer) in high beam position Measure the voltage between terminals P21 and P13:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Combination light switch (Dimmer) in low beam position Measure the voltage between terminals P21 and P13:There should be about 5 V.
  • Faulty combination light switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
