EPS indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored (2014 2015)

NOTE:

The all sensor learn in the VSA system may not have properly completed.

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Start the engine.

    - 2. Check the EPS indicator.

    Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. All DTCs check

    -1. All DTCs check with the HDS.

    All DTCs

    Are there DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Fuse check 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. B2-1 (60 A)
    Location Main under-hood fuse box

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 4.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground on the No. B2-1 (60 A) fuse circuit.

  4. Fuse check 2

    -1. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. D23 (7.5 A)
    Location Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 5.

    NO 

    Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground on the No. D23 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.

  5. Open wire check (+B EPS line)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    EPS control unit connector A (11P)

    - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
    Test circuit +B EPS
    Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 2 (BLK)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the main under-hood fuse box and the EPS control unit.

  6. Open wire check (IG1 SAFETY line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
    Test circuit IG1 SAFETY
    Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 9 (BLU)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The IG1 SAFETY wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the EPS control unit.

  7. Open wire check (EPS GND line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Test circuit EPS GND
    Test point 1 EPS control unit connector A (11P) No. 1 (BLK)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The EPS GND wire is OK. Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G401).

  8. EPS control unit check (update)

    -1. Update the EPS control unit if it does not have the latest software.

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 3. Start the engine.

    - 4. Check the EPS indicator.

    Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?

    YES 

    Troubleshooting is complete.

    NO 

    Replace the EPS control unit .
