DTC B1175: Fuel Level Sensor (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Malfunction
NOTE:
If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see
TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A
).
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then the ON mode.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTCs B1175 indicated?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections between the gauge control module and the fuel tank unit.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Disconnect the fuel tank unit 4P connector.
- Disconnect gauge control module connector A (32P).
- Check for continuity between gauge control module connector A (32P) terminals No. 2 and No. 4 and fuel tank unit 4P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 1 respectively.Fig 1: Checking For Continuity Between Gauge Control Module Connector A (32P) Terminals No. 2 And No. 4 And Fuel Tank Unit 4P Connector Terminals No. 3 And No. 1

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 9.
NO -Repair an open or high resistance in the wire(s).
- Do the fuel gauge sending unit test (see
FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT
).
Is the fuel gauge sending unit OK?
YES -Replace the gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Replace fuel gauge sending unit (see FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT ).
