DTC B1176: Fuel Level Sensor (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Short
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then the ON mode.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Intermittent failure, the fuel level sensor circuit is OK at this time. Check for worn/missing insulation or an internal short in the wire.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Disconnect the fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES -Go to step 11.
NO -Replace the fuel gauge sending unit (see FUEL PUMP/FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT REPLACEMENT ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the fuel gauge sending unit.
NO -
- Without SH-AWD: Go to step 14.
- With SH-AWD: Go to step 15.
- Check for continuity between gauge control module 32P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the fuel gauge sending unit.
NO -Replace the gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT ).
- Disconnect the secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector.
- Check for continuity between fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short in the wire.
NO -Go to step 17.
- Reconnect the fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector.
- Reconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES -Go to step 23.
NO -Replace the secondary fuel gauge sending unit (see SECONDARY FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Disconnect the fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to ground in the wire between the fuel gauge sending unit and the secondary fuel gauge sending unit.
NO -Go to step 27.
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short in the wire.
NO -Replace the gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT ).
