Check the Compass Calibration
Although the compass is self calibrating, it may need to be manually calibrated after exposure to a strong magnetic field If the compass is blinking and CAL is shown on the display, do this to calibrate the compass
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II)
- Press and hold the SET UP button (A) for about 5 seconds until you hear a beep The display shows you the compass setting menu items
- Turn the selector knob (B) to select CALIBRATION, then press the knob
- When the display shows PUSH CAL START, press the selector knob (A) The compass display blinks and the CAL indicator comes on
- Drive the vehicle slowly in two complete circles When the calibration is successfully completed, the compass display stops blinking and the CAL indicator goes offNOTE:
- When you are in the setting mode, pressing the RETURN button (B) returns to the previous display Pressing the SET UP button (C) cancels the compass setting mode
- The audio system is not related to the compass system Even if the compass system is calibrating, the display returns to the normal display which you selected last
- Do this procedure in an-open area, away from buildings, power lines, and other vehicles
