Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection: Reconnection
NOTE:
- Some systems store data in memory that is lost when the battery is disconnected. Do the following procedures before disconnecting the battery.
- The battery sensor is initialized and recalibrated automatically after reconnecting. Review Battery Management System Symptom Troubleshooting (see SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING ).
- Clean the battery terminals.
- Test the battery
- Reconnect the positive cable (A) to the battery (B) first, then reconnect the negative cable (C) to the battery.NOTE: Always connect the positive cable to the battery first.
- Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
- Do the steering column position memorization procedure (see STEERING COLUMN POSITION MEMORIZATION ).
- Enter the anti-theft code for the audio or the audio navigation unit.
- Set the clock (for vehicles without navigation).
- If equipped, initialize the navigation system (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT AND HDD SERVICE PRECAUTIONS ).
- If the power tailgate was opened while the battery was disconnected, the power tailgate control unit must be reset (see RESETTING THE POWER TAILGATE CONTROL UNIT ).
