Rear Door Latch Replacement
NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Remove these items:
- Door panel Rear Door Panel Removal/Installation
- Door glass inner weatherstrip Rear Door Panel Removal/Installation
- Plastic cover Service and Repair
- Glass Service and Repair
2. Disconnect the outer handle rod Service and Repair
3. Remove the latch (A).
-1 Remove the screws (B, C) securing the latch, then lower the latch.
Remove the access seal (D).
-3 Using a clip remover, disconnect the outer handle rod (E) from the outer handle.
Disconnect the connector (F).
-5 Remove the latch through the hole in the door. Take care not to kink the lock cable (G) and inner handle cable (H).
4. Remove the screw, and remove the latch protector (A), then disconnect the latch cable (B) and the inner handle cable (C).
5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the actuator connector is plugged in properly, and the outer handle rod is connected securely.
- Replace the outer handle rod bushing with a new one. Service and Repair
- Make sure the door locks and opens properly.
- When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to prevent water leaks.
